PRODUCT SAFETY INFORMATION Read and understand the current Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of this product. STORAGE CONDITION The product should be kept in tightly closed containers, protect from freezing and strong heat, and it should be used within 12 months whenever possible. The recommended normal storage temperature is between 10 - 35°C.
Comparative Data on pure film performance NALSTANEÒ SPA M showed comparable or better pure film performance than the commercial acrylic coating “Competitor A” in ASTM test methods. | NalstaneÒ SPA M | Competitor coating A (acrylic based) | Tensile Strength (max.), N/mm2 (based on ASTM D412)* | 0.9 | 0.7 | Elongation at break, % (based on ASTM D412)* | > 140 | > 120 | Water absorption after 24 hours, % | 3.4 | 8 | Minimum filming temperature, °C | <5 | <5 | Low temperature tolerance, °C | -29 | -16 |
* Using ASTM Die C, 1-2mm dry film thickness, crosshead speed at 500mm/min Flexible Cement Membrane Performance Cement powder (commercial) and coating (wet) is mixed in 1 part to 1 part by weight. A 2mm wet thickness film is applied on a plastic sheet using applicator and allowed to cure. After the film is cured, the film is removed from the plastic sheet and cut into rectangular strips (1cm width by 7cm length). The thickness is measured by caliper. The strips are pulled using a tensile machine at a rate of 50 mm/min. The gap between the grips of the tensile machine is 3cm. After curing at room temperature for 3 and 7 days, the testing results reveal the better tensile strength and flexibility of NALSTANEÒ SPA M than competitor: | Tensile Strength, N/mm2 | Elongation at break % | Duration of curing, days | 3 | 7 | 3 | 7 | NALSTANEÒ SPA M | 0.60 | 0.92 | 90 | 92 | Competitor coating A | 0.43 | 0.70 | 75 | 73 |
Effects of Formulation Components on Properties 1. Viscosity: Finer sized filler produced higher viscosity than coarser sized filler. 2. Tensile Strength: The tensile strength can be increased by: a. Increasing the ratio of dry premix to aqueous phase; b. Increasing the concentration of the cement component. 3. Elongation: The elongation can be increased by: a. reducing the ratio of dry premix to aqueous phase; 4. Water Proofing: increasing the amount of NALSTANEÒ SPA M will impart better waterproofing to the membrane. --- END --- |
